I’ve been planning to write more about what exactly Builder is as well as going into some detail about the development process. Right now, I want to get some of the build tools in place first, so that people can start using them. Let’s start with the boilerplate page.
The boilerplate page is very simple, and is something that I’ve already built for the theme I’m currently working on. The short explanation of what this page does is that it gives you a file structure and a set of structure-specific functions that you can use when building your theme. More on that later.
You can use this boilerplate file as-is, or just use it as a starting point.
Notice that there’s only one file ( actually, 3 files ), and it’s just named: “functions.php”, even though there are three functions in this file. This file just declares those three functions for you.
It’s a core function, that needs to be included before any other function can be called, so it makes sense that it’s the first function. Since we’re writing the boilerplate to start with, we’re declaring it.
The last function is just a dummy function, used to declare that the first two are available in the scope.
Now let’s look at the “functions.php” file in the builder-builder package. Here’s the list of functions you get for free.
